What We Are?

The IGS is a learned society dedicated to the scientific and engineering development of geotextiles, geomembranes, related products, and associated technologies. We are registered as a non-profit corporation.

Who We Are?

IGS is a global community of 4,000 members including corporate, individual and student members, with a shared passion for what geosynthetics can achieve. With 45 chapters worldwide, it's easy to connect with us locally.

Our Aim

To collect and disseminate knowledge on all matters relevant to geotextiles, geomembranes and related products, e.g. by promoting seminars, conferences etc.

Indian Chapter Introduction

In the year 1985, Central Board of Irrigation and Power (CBIP) identified geosynthetics as an important area relevant to India's infrastructure development needs. After approval from the IGS Council in October 1988, the Indian Chapter was registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 in June 1992 as the Committee for International Geotextile Society (India), with its Secretariat at CBIP.

The Chapter has since been renamed as International Geosynthetics Society (India), following the parent body's name change from International Geotextiles Society to International Geosynthetics Society.
